At Blake's visitation, some beautiful flowers were delivered to the funeral home, accompanied by a card that read, "Prayers for your family. We know that Blake is in Heaven. Mark 10:14." I wasn't familiar with that Bible verse, so I quickly grabbed my phone and opened my Bible app to read the words of Jesus: "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
This moment marked a pivotal point in my faith and our journey as followers of Christ. Where emptiness and shame once lingered, hope began to fill the void. Over the next few years, I felt a calling to assist others experiencing the heartbreaking loss of a baby.
The Blake Wagner Foundation was initially established to raise funds for purchasing medical equipment to provide the gift of time to families of stillborn babies, like Blake. Through the generous donations of our supporters, the foundation purchased and deployed seven CuddleCots, allowing families precious time to hold their babies, take pictures, meet family and friends, and most importantly, time to heal.
The CuddleCots placed in local hospitals are still actively in use today. Each CuddleCot proudly bears the Bible verse Mark 10:14 on a plaque. Other families similar to ours have also placed CuddleCots in various hospitals nationwide.
The work of the foundation is far from over. One in four women experience miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. We are committed to sharing the gospel of Christ during these trying times. I authored this book to provide further comfort to families navigating the pain of losing a child.
We hope you will continue this journey with us. Moving forward, your donations will be used to print copies of Mark 10:14 for placement in hospitals, sharing the hope that can only be found in a life in Christ Jesus, where we will spend eternity with Him and our beloved babies.
Until we meet again,
Crystal Wagner
